Welcome to your source for unique digital illustration, retro & custom typography and more.
Glad you stopped by.
Why use custom illustration? It will bring a unique perspective, style, texture, richness and a feeling to your project you cannot get any other way. It can evoke emotion in the viewer and make a product or service more memorable. People will often keep items with beautiful illustration to use as everyday objects. I am very drawn to early 20th century advertising illustration and typography—it is more appealing to me than most "fine" art!
You decide where and when you need the pop of a great illustration. You'll need to consider your target market, your budget and your schedule, but here are a few scenarios that make illustration a great choice:
- Illustration and custom typography work really well for packaging, focusing attention and giving an immediate market "position"
- Photo collages made from the project photos will add an extra dimension; use them as additional graphics, cover art or individual pages in brochures and catalogs or as web-site graphics
- Custom typography (as in the header above) can be used for catalogs, posters, t-shirt art, web-site headers, POP displays, trade show graphics, vehicle wraps, billboards and other signage
- Instruction sheets: using line-art images developed from your photos might be easier to understand and a better choice than photos
- Inspiration: start with an illustration and get color and style direction for the rest of the project
It's easy and affordable to get a custom look! With the advent of the personal computer, the use of illustration has declined. A lot of companies brought their advertising and PR in-house and did not have access to affordable custom work; the protocol for buying illustration used to be confusing, and you were often limited to major metropolitan markets. Not so today! Have a look at my work; if you think I can help with your project please contact me.
